Xiaomi Redmi 1S MIUI 6 global stable OTA update starts rolling out

Xiaomi has started rolling out global stable MIUI 6 update for the Redmi 1S smartphone, few months after
releasing the beta version. The company introduced MIUI 6, a major upgrade to MIUI ROM last year, but only few Mi devices such as Mi 4, Mi 3, Redmi Note, Redmi 2 and MiPad run on the stable MIUI 6 ROM.
MIUI6 brings a new notification center with toggles for music control panel, notifications for new messages, missed calls, reminders, app notices, and more. It also has smart blocklist and visual menu for voice service calls. It is based on Android 4.4.4 (Kitkat). Xiaomi has not announced when it plans to roll out the Android Lollipop update. Panasonic P55 Novo 13-Megapixel Camera, Octa-Core SoC Launched at Rs. 9,290

Panasonic had in November launched the P55 smartphone in India, priced at Rs. 10,290. The company on Thursday has launched a follow up handset called P55 Novo. Priced at Rs. 9,290, the P55 Novo will be available from the first week of July.
The selfie-focused Panasonic P55 Novo runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box, and comes with dual-SIM support. It features a 5.3-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display, and is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core processor (unspecified) coupled with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone includes 8GB of inbuilt storage that is expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB).
The smartphone sports a 13-megapixel autofocus rear camera with triple-LED flash, while also housing a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash. Connectivity options on the Panasonice P55 Novo include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, FM radio, Micro-USB, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS/ A-GPS, and 3G.
It packs the same 2500mAh removable battery like in the P55, with no word on talk time and standby time. Measuring 147.9x73.8x8.15mm, the Panasonic P55 Novo features Tap Play, which allows users to wake up the smartphone without pressing the physical power button, and Gesture Play, which allows launching of apps via gestures.
"With consumer priorities changing radically, we believe in enhancing customer experience by providing them with smart technology on the go. With the new smartphone, we are here to to offer a new dimension wherein the model has been specially designed to provide easy accessibility to consumers looking for a single app to control all home devices," said Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India during the launch.

Xiaomi Mi 5 and Redmi Note 2 Purportedly Pictured in Leaked Images

Adding to the previous leaks dealing with Xiaomi Mi 5 and Redmi Note 2, two new images have surfaced on Chinese social networking site Weibo. These images shows the handsets' back panels, offering more details about the two smartphones.
The first image (via Gizmochina) featuring the rumoured Xiaomi Mi 5 shows the smartphone's dual-camera setup at the back along with dual-LED flash. The rear panel of the rumoured smartphone show no sign of the inclusion of a fingerprint sensor, which was rumoured earlier this week . The back panel seems to have been made out of glass.
Some of the other specifications being tipped for the rumoured Xiaomi Mi 5 include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, 5.2-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) resolution display, 16-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front-facing camera, 4GB of RAM, 16GB or 64GB of inbuilt storage, and 3000mAh battery.
The second image (via GforGames), said to be showing us a glimpse of Xiaomi Redmi Note 2, features a smartphone with fingerprint sensor placed below the rear camera and the LED flash. Seen in its silver colour variant, the design of the handset goes in line with the last month's leaked image , which also showed the rear panel of the unannounced Redmi Note 2.
Unfortunately, the specifications of the handset in question was not mentioned in the leak. The smartphone however, allegedly passed China's Quality Certification Centre recently, tipping some innards. As per the certification listing, the Redmi Note 2 is supposed to include a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display; a 13-megapixel rear camera; a 5-megapixel front camera, and a battery larger than 3000mAh. 4G LTE connectivity is also tipped. Two separate report claims the handset to feature either Mediatek's Helio X10 (MT6795) chipset or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 410 (MSM8919) processor.

Xiaomi Mi 5 Tipped to Sport Fingerprint Sensor, Launch in November

A new report has emerged claiming that Xiaomi's next Mi 5 flagship will be launching in November. Apart from the release time-frame, the report tips built-in fingerprint scanner alongside purported complete specifications list. A recent report also claimed that the Mi 5 might launch in October or November this year.
According to the latest report, the Xiaomi Mi 5 is codenamed Libra and will include fingerprint scanner technology. No other detail about how the fingerprint scanner feature will work on the handset has been revealed in the new report. This is in line with a previous report that suggested that Xiaomi filed a patent and detailed the fingerprint recognition method via the handset's buttons.
Some of the new purported specifications (via
Mobipicker) of the Mi 5 aka Libra smartphone tipped include a 5.3-inch display with a 1440x2560 pixels resolution that can offer pixel density of 554ppi. Under the hood, the handset is said to be powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset, which is yet-to-be-revealed by Qualcomm.
Other details leaked about the Mi 5 smartphone include 4GB of RAM, apart from storage variants of 16GB and 64GB with expandable storage support. The rear camera said to sport a 16-megapixel resolution, and the front camera a 6-megapixel resolution. A 3030mAh battery is likely to be back the device. The handset is said to run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with MIUI version on top.
Preliminary leaks had suggested a different set of innards for the Mi 5 including a 5.5-inch display; an 8-megapixel front camera, and a 3000mAh battery. Several reports had also pointed to a July launch time-frame for the Mi 5.
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on Tuesday
announced that it started making devices in Brazil for sale locally, promising to dramatically undercut rivals on price in the first big step beyond Asia for the world's most valuable technology startup. Xiaomi announced that Redmi 2 smartphone will go on sale in Brazil next week for 499 reais (roughly Rs. 10,000).

LG G4 Stylus With 5.7-Inch Display Reportedly Set to Launch at Rs. 24,990

LG India is reportedly set to launch the G4 Stylus in India at Rs. 24,990, as tipped by an established Mumbai-based retailer. The company is yet to make an official announcement or list the device on its India site.
According to a post by Mahesh Telecom, stocks of the
LG G4 Stylus smartphone will arrive in a few days, and go on sale shortly thereafter.
The retailer has also shared details about additional offers that will be available to consumers who buy the G4 Stylus including a free 16GB microSD card (worth Rs. 500); Quick Circle case (worth Rs. 5,000); Hungama app downloads free for first 45 days, and Rockstand mobile app with free downloading worth Rs. 2,000.
Launched initially in May, the Android 5.0 Lollipop-based LG G4 Stylus comes with a UI derived from the 2015 flagship smartphone, the LG G4 , which sports the LG UX 4.0
The G4 Stylus features a 5.7-inch display, which is slightly larger than the 5.5-inch display seen on the G4. As the name suggests, it sports a rubberdium stylus for note-taking.
Some of the highlights of the G4-derived UI on the G4 Stylus smartphones include Gesture Shot, which allows the camera to open and close a hand in front of the lens to start a three-second countdown for the shutter; Knock Code, which was first introduced on the LG G2, that allows users to unlock the phone by tapping a personalised 'knock' pattern on the display, and Glance View, which shows key notifications on the display when it is turned off.
For specifications, the LG G4 Stylus features a 5.7-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display offering a pixel density of 258ppi; 1GB of RAM; 8GB of built-in storage; expandable storage support via microSD card; 3000mAh battery (removable); Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n; Bluetooth 4.1; NFC; A-GPS; Glonass; Micro-USB; 5-megapixel front camera; 154.3x79.2x9.6mm, and 163 grams. The G4 Stylus will come in LTE and 3G variants featuring slightly different specifications. The LTE model will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor while the 3G variant will feature a 1.4GHz octa-core processor. The LTE model will sport a 13-megapixel rear camera while the 3G model will sport an 8-megapixel rear camera. Mahesh Telecom has tipped the smartphone to launch in its 4G LTE variant in India, pointing to the 1.2GHz quad-core processor.
LG India last month launched its 2015 flagship G4 smartphone at Rs. 51,000.

Android Smartphone With Massive 10000mAh Battery Is Coming Soon

Oukitel might not be a brand you're familiar with, but they're coming in with a bang. The recently announced Oukitel U9 has received a bit of attention for featuring things like worldwide LTE support, but it's their next smartphone that will be taking all of the headlines. Battery life is always a hot topic when it comes to smartphones, and while some manufacturers dabble in 4,000, 5,000 or even 6,000 mAh batteries, Oukitel is taking that to a whole new level.
Introducing the Oukitel K10000, a metal-bodied smartphone with a giant 10,000 mAh battery. Details of the device are still sketchy at this point, but we have managed to confirm that it will run Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box and will have a 5.5-inch display. Finer details of the phone, including things like which SoC it will be packing, the display's resolution, how much RAM it will have or how much storage it will have have yet to be confirmed by Oukitel's engineering team.
What is known, however, is that the phone looks like something out of a Transformers movie, and the battery life will almost certainly be glorious. Going by the figure alone, a user should expect almost a week's worth of moderate usage on a single charge.
While waiting on more details of the phone to be made public, however, we have obtained some exclusive real-world photos of the device which can be viewed below.
Update: We can confirm that it will be a completely battery-centric smartphone, in that it will have the quad-core MediaTek MT6735 SoC (which supports worldwide LTE ) and a 720p resolution for its 5.5-inch display. Other details confirmed to Neowin include:
